About
A free listing board for Rust mod creators, run by MixMods. Creators publish a name, a price, a description and their own links. The story behind it is on Why this exists.
What it is
- Free to list: no fee, and no commission on anything a creator sells.
- What is hosted here: files uploaded by their own authors, and files from open-licensed GitHub repositories. Nothing else. Plugins hosted on uMod are linked, never copied.
- Optional hosting: upload your file and we hash it, check it, publish the report, and serve the free ones. Every version is kept. A first upload can be a
.csup to 3 MB, a.zipup to 20 MB and 200 files, or a Rust.mapup to 24 MB. After your first listing is approved, uploads from your edit link can be up to 64 MB and 400 files. - Creators use their own Discord, PayPal, website or store links. Buyers deal with the creator. Prices are in US dollars.
- Disclosed AI use is welcome. A badge shows it; buyers decide.
- Plain guides, free to read: running a server on your own box, setting it up with AI, one list of Rust modding resources for authors and owners, and the rules a reviewer checks in a Rust plugin.
- A checking guide for buyers who want one. Every hosted file gets an automated check and a compile result on a named Rust build; both are public (how the checks work, compile board).
- MixMods lists its own plugins and packs here, marked Official, and lists them free. Official means published by MixMods, who runs this site. It is not a quality mark. MixMods sells nothing on this site, so nobody who runs the board has a sale riding on how any listing is treated. Donations toward server and development costs are optional and never a condition of use: Support MixMods.
- Popular free plugins are indexed with their author credited and their licence shown. From open-licensed GitHub repositories (MIT, Apache or BSD only) the original file is offered unmodified with its hash and a check report. Plugins hosted on uMod are listed as a link to their uMod page only: this site keeps no copy of them, and does not check or compile them. Nothing indexed is ever sold.
- Listing an indexed plugin is opt-out: the author can have it changed or removed at any time. Hosting is always opt-in: a uMod plugin is only hosted here if its author claims the listing and uploads their own file. To claim or remove: message B1 on the MixMods Discord.
- When a plugin hosted here from GitHub stops compiling after a Rust update, a maintained build may be offered beside the original: the smallest change that makes it compile on the Rust build named on its listing. Compiled, not yet run on a live server. It keeps the same licence and the author's credit, every changed line is shown in a public diff, and it has its own check report and compile result. The original stays the first download, untouched. Maintained builds are free, are never sold, and are withdrawn the moment the author asks or ships their own fix.
- Pack Builder (One download, ready to drop in.): pick several free, checked, Carbon-compiled plugins with "Add to pack" on their cards or listing pages, or start from a one-click starter pack, choose Carbon or Oxide, and download one zip with every plugin already sorted into its plugins, data, config and lang folders, plus a README. uMod-indexed and link-only listings are never eligible, since nothing of theirs is hosted here to pack. Every plugin in a pack still counts as a download on its own listing.
What it is not
- Not a store. No payment for any listing passes through this site. The only money MixMods takes is optional donations.
- Not a marketplace. If a creator uploads a free mod we serve the exact file that was checked. Paid mods are checked here and sold by the creator, who mints download codes and hands one to each buyer; the buyer redeems it here and gets the checked file. We never take the payment and never gate a download behind money.
- Not a reviewer. There is no human code review. Uploaded files get an automated check (network calls, process use, dynamic loading, encoded data, file writes, Steam IDs, Harmony patches, hooks) and the report is public. Nobody reads the logic by hand, and a clean report is not a safety verdict. A person looks at a creator's first listing only to confirm the creator name is not an impersonation and to keep out spam.
- Not an arbiter. Refunds, disputes and support are between the creator and the buyer.
Terms, in plain English
- A listing is an advertisement by its creator. Listing here is not endorsement by MixMods.
- By listing, a creator states that they own or are licensed to distribute the code, that it contains no Facepunch assets, that the links are theirs, and that the file hash is kept current.
- By uploading, you let this site store and serve the file until you remove it.
- We remove listings that impersonate someone, misrepresent what is offered, or are reported and not defended, and we pull hosted files on a credible complaint. Use the report form on any listing.
- MixMods is not a party to any sale and is not liable for any mod listed here, including MixMods' own free plugins and maintained builds, which are provided as is, or for disputes, refunds, malware, data loss or server damage arising from them. You install mods at your own risk.
- We do not collect emails or accounts. Removed listings are hidden and their files are no longer served; we keep the record, and the IP address a form came from, for abuse checks. The edit link and creator key shown at submission are the only credentials, so keep them.
Forum rules
The forums are open to read. Posting needs a Steam sign-in; we keep only the SteamID, and posts show under a random name. Posts are public and search engines can read them.
- Be civil. Argue about mods, not people.
- No scams or spam. No giveaways, free skins, crypto or NFT offers, and no fake Steam or Discord links.
- No piracy and no leaked paid plugins.
- Do not post other people's paid work, in full or in part.
- Links are fine to: mixapps.store, youtube.com, youtu.be, twitch.tv, medal.tv, streamable.com, imgur.com, gyazo.com, prnt.sc, tenor.com, giphy.com, github.com, umod.org, rust.facepunch.com, battlemetrics.com, rust-servers.net, steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles, store.steampowered.com, reddit.com, corrosionhour.com. A link anywhere else waits for a moderator.
- A new account's first 3 posts wait for a moderator. After that, posts go up at once, within hourly and daily limits.
- You can edit your post for 30 minutes and delete it at any time.
- Every post has a report button. Reports from 3 different players hide a post until a moderator looks.
- Moderators can hide or remove posts, lock threads and stop a Steam account from posting.
